Food-4-Thought Backpack Program

The Backpack Concept:

It was developed at the Arkansas Rice Depot in Little Rock, after a school nurse asked for help because hungry children were coming to her with stomach aches and dizziness.  The Local food bank began to provide the school children with groceries in non-descript backpacks to carry home.

Normally, this program is funded by private donations to the local and national food banks.  However, the Logan-Rogersville school district does not qualify at this time for assistance.  The needs in this state are so great that the food banks do not have the resources to handle the demand.....So many children in need of assistance, are not not receiving it.  But that is where Harvest Community Church is stepping forward and finding ways to meet those needs...And you can help!!

With donations collected, the church will supply a child's backpack with a weekend's worth of meals:
  • "7" Meals (3 Dinners, 2 Breakfast, 2 Lunches)

We will also include information on church services and upcoming activities so that we may have the opportunity to fill their hearts and minds with the word of God as well as fill their bodies with nutritious food.

If you would like to make a donation or would like more information on this program please call or write the church office.
